Invited to participate in an exhibition where each artwork must be comprised of at least 1,000 component parts that are extracted by viewers throughout the exhibition, I formalized a previous project that used marked currency. Attempting to control the pace of consumption and engage directly, an interview extracts information from the viewer by way of a questionnaire and yields one marked dollar for the participant. The caveat is an agreement that the bill must circulate beyond the participant - by donation, exchange, expenditure - and that viewers communicate back regarding their transactions. The questionnaire initially queries traditional data mining information, begins to twist slightly, and finally addresses spending practices, art interests, and personal trust.
